Basking In Your Aura

It’s getting harder and harder for me to write. Wait. Maybe I should say I’m getting lazier at blogging. That’s doesn’t sound good. But at least I’m sharing some pictures right?

Last week I headed over to Syahrin’s place after work to chill out before buka time and took some shots with Mado’s cam. Couldn’t help it – the late afternoon light basking in was too hard for me too resist. Once again, it’s shot in monochrome – I hope I’m not boring you guys here.

This photo of Mado has been sitting on my desktop for quite a while. Kept thinking something is missing but I can’t quite pin-point what it is. *sigh* Photo taken a few weeks back during a test shot for a friend’s portrait. Black background was achieved using black velvet cloth. Lighting; one sb-800 top right of the subject and if I’m not mistaken, one sb-600 on very minimal power to the left of the subject (to fill in some light to the right side of the face).

On Tuesday night I found myself at a jamming studio, past midnight, filled with sounds of good wholesome music. I’m blessed to be surrounded by musically-talented people.

While most of the time I would turn down an invitation to hang out past my bedtime on a weekday, I couldn’t help but think, “Hey, this is the best opportunity to recreate the mood/photos during the LabRats jamming session“. I had it pre-visualized – the photos will be in black and white because I’ll be shooting at high ISOs (1000, 1600). While most of the time I would shoot in color first before converting it to black and white, however in this situation, I know for a fact that the color version would not turn out nice due to the high noise. Just to prove myself that I was right, my first few shots were in color and boy they looked horrible – except for one photo which you will see below.
