There was something in the air on June 10 2009…

Because Hunny Madu, AJQ and Bo totally rocked gig at No Black Tie. Either there was something in the air, or it could be the wacky vibes from Hunny’s hairdo. Not much editing as most pictures were taken in B&W, and I’m loving the whole grainy mood effect it has. Not so sure if it jives with Hunny though – she apparently loves over-exposed pictures as how you will see in the profile shots below. I was pretty sure everyone enjoyed Hunny’s remixes of her songs, just as I did. They were different. They were fresh! Just as Hunny left at about midnight, Bo picked up the guitar and started a mini-show which consist of slow love songs, hilarious spontaneous songs and no-joke here, Chinese songs. Props to you Bo. Hella talented!

(God knows why the pics are bunched up together despite me placing a break line after each image.  -.- Will figured it out later)

AJQ Feat Anita Ibrahim at Bangkok Jazz

Migraine is getting the best of me. It’s getting so common that I have it almost every weekend. The doctor said it could be because of eyesight – wrong power. Well I’m not too sure, need to get it checked soon.  So migraine or no migraine, work is work. I braved through the rainy and congested Jalan Sultan Ismail to watch AJQ’s gig which featured the beautiful Anita Ibrahim.

I just had a quick recollection when I first met Anita back in June 2007. It was the very same night which I met Hunny again after so many years. *laughs* I remembered Anita & Hunny were having donuts from Big Apple at the Curve as I was showing them my business cards; or better known as Moo cards. (It’s a unique business card but I ran out of it :( ) Anyhow, just random thoughts there.

I had no idea Anita could sing till I saw some of her pictures from Adil’s facebook. And boy this girl can sing! I’m just going to share a few pictures here because honestly, I took over 600 photos that night. I’ve manage to shortlisted it to 300++ but most of it are repetitive. Adil’s going to have a hard time choosing his favorite shots later on because I’ll be giving him ALL the photos :P

Ah yes, if you guys were wondering, yes, the attire for the night was sponsored by Ed Hardy. Check their store out in KLCC if you like anything that you see here.

AJQ at Modestos

As mentioned in the previous post, I was invited by Adil of Adil Johan Quartet (or known as AJQ) to take some photos of him and his band. Thanks to my experience of following Hunny around for gigs, I knew the lighting would be a problem as soon as I heard from Adil that the stage lights switches back and forth between red, green and blue. Quicktip; if you guys want to give music photography a shot, the best place, in my opinion is Bangkok Jazz at Chulan Square. Out of all the locations I covered during Hunny’s gig tour in 2007, I found that Bangkok Jazz had the best lighting – main performer will be in focus without the all weird colors. Perhaps some photographers wouldn’t mind this, but trust me, editing those pictures can be a pain the you-know-what.

Anyhow, me and Mado (oh yeah.. Mado was there too to accompany me) manage our way through AJQ’s second set without any mishaps. On Mado’s suggestion, we dragged the boys to the hallway behind the restaurant to get a few well-exposed profile pictures. D0n’t get me wrong but the stage was too dark for me to get any decent shots of the bassist, pianist or drummer! So this hallway actually leads up to the toilet and hence you will see them in some of the shots below :P

I’ve edited quite a bunch, here’s just a few.

I didn’t want to mess much with the colors. Just wanted it clean this time (this will make it easier should Adil would like to use the pictures on promotional posters) :)
